Successful Supplemental Essay Example From Our Accepted Alumni Student:
When I began nursing home volunteering during junior year, I saw patient struggles—along with extraordinary resilience. During our evenings playing bingo, I was inspired to launch our recreational Lego Therapy program.
Over the past six months, I’ve continued learning invaluable lessons as we build together. Seeing the patients’ enthusiasm, I have realized the importance of not only innovation—but of helping others maintain independence and enjoyment at any age.
At Virginia Tech, I hope to share these experiences, continue serving communities, and unite engineering with compassion. I’d innovate with team-based Senior Design, assist with the Agency on Aging, and support older friends in Senior Connections. With Virginia Tech’s mission-focused community, I can truly integrate learning with empathy—and seek solutions for all.
