Successful Supplemental Essay Example From Our Accepted Alumni Student:
“Pick a card…any card.” With YouTube and David Blaine’s book Mysterious Stranger as my teachers, I can bamboozle you by pulling a coin out of your ear or by making a card vanish into a poof of smoke.
“Bravo!” Chopin’s Revolutionary Etude is my favorite piano piece. Playing it feels like being thrown into a washing machine – spun around until dizzy. I’ll never, however, forget playing Schubert’s 3rd Impromptu one final time at my [redacted] – more satisfying even than performing at Carnegie Hall.
“I did it” – Isabel, my first piano student, proudly announced – as she mastered Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Effectively sharing my talents and passions with others is a skill I try continuously to perfect – whether it be in music, racquet sports, or mentoring others – at camp or in the classroom.
“We won,” my campaign manager texted me, announcing that our candidate (a Georgetown alum) had won his campaign for the [State] State Senate. As an intern, having an opportunity to put my marketing and communication skills at the service of a meaningful and impactful campaign was rewarding.
“Allez,” I shouted during the final home tennis match of my high school career. Sure, I enjoy witnessing a successful drop shot of mine as the slow arc of the ball falls just over the net, out of my opponent’s reach. Having my friends and teammates present, as I passed the captain’s baton over to the next, was surreal.
