  • Featured Supplemental Essay Prompt For Emory University Applicants:

What academic areas are you interested in exploring in college? 200 Word Maximum.

Successful Supplemental Essay Example From Our Accepted Alumni Student:

My love for science was, admittedly, born from childhood idealism—devouring diagrams in my Children’s Encyclopedia, dissecting a sheep brain with wonder, envisioning myself healing my dad’s hypertension or my grandmother’s arthritis. Distinct facts eventually united into processes in AP Biology. Simple experiments transformed to eye-opening research.

With time, limitations in the medical field became elucidated. Mere childhood curiosities morphed into patient concerns—and glaring inequities—that I witnessed at a [City] hospital. I learned of food insecurity and food deserts through courses and outreach. I realized the importance of sustainability through research.

But I never lost my drive to become a doctor. I became determined to practice medicine with an empathy toward diverse backgrounds and difficulties. I developed a passion to promote equity—in healthcare and nutrition access.

At Emory, I hope to explore applications, interactions, and human experience through Biology or Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology. I want not only to make advancements in enzymology, innovate cardiovascular treatment, and contribute to breakthroughs in Alzheimer’s—but to help bring hope to as many people as possible.

I look forward to learning from a community that embraces the diversity of Atlanta, works to remedy systemic healthcare inequities, and promotes social and environmental consciousness with every action.
